If you’ve followed our recent post on video marketing, you’ll know that we’re pretty big supporters of getting your brand in front of your target audience using video. Video is such a powerful beast when it comes to online marketing, it has the power to hold peoples attention and share a tonne of information to them in such a short amount of time. It also requires less from the viewer than say reading an article does. Video (and film) as a medium has the ability to share information in a way that is powerful, informative and entertaining.
So, with all that being said, we’ve put together a guide to help you choose the best video production company. Most businesses don’t know the difference between a good and bad production company. As much as it is trusting your gut, there are a number of things you can look for to help you decide.
Get to know them. Well, this seems to be a no-brainer, when you meet a company for the first time with your ideas you’ll want to know if their ideas and beliefs line up with you yours. Now, I mean do their philosophical beliefs line up, but I’m more thinking about if their work ethic, and personalities line up with you and your brand. The easiest way to figure this out is by asking yourself, did you feel comfortable around them during your first meeting.
Okay, so maybe you’re not at that stage yet, for example, say you’re a new start up in the bay area, you can do a quick search for video production san francisco, you’ll come up with a number of different options. As you go through each site, take a look at their video portfolios. Does any of their previous work match your style or brand? If so, you may be onto something. Now, you may not be a expert in video but you still have a keen eye for what looks good. Does their work stand out? Does it look professional? If you’re answering yes to these questions then it’s worth investigating the companies further.
One thing that i’d suggest doing is checking out each company on Facebook. Some may disagree with me on this but I think if a company is relevant and in the know with marketing trend then they should have a good social media presence. Here’s an example of a company doing some great social media. Check out MarketME Video Production On Facebook.
You may have to take a look at a number of different video production businesses until you find the one that’s right for you. This is okay thought, it’s always a good idea to take a look at what each company has to offer as some may specialize in a specific service that could benefit your project.
Once you’re in touch with the company or companies that you like, you will need to provide a brief that explains what you’re looking for. The goal here is to be specific as you can so the company can provide you with a budget and estimated time for completion.
